What Was It Like At WordCamp Canada?
WordCamp Canada was filled with learning opportunities, networking, food, and more. Here are my highlights from the event:
Great Speakers and Learning Moments
One of the main themes of WordCamp Canada was the impact of WordPress on diverse communities and practices. Several talks throughout the event focused on the theme of improving access to WordPress for everyone, through creating projects that resonate with Indigenous communities, empowering marginalized communities using WordPress, or ways to improve your website for accessibility, and more.
WordCamp also included talks on business-specific topics, such as how to grow your business while you’re busy, recovering from burnout, how to write a great about me page, and tips to make your newsletter stand out in the inbox.
Overall, WordCamp featured a great mix of talks and panels that provided great learning moments for everyone.
Networking Opportunities
Overall, it was a great experience meeting other WordPress users and enthusiasts from across Canada and beyond.
Delicious Food
One of the many food highlights was at the After Party, where the food options really leaned into its Canadian roots. We were spoiled with a DIY poutine station (featuring a variety of great toppings like chorizo, mushrooms, philly cheesesteak), a Montreal smoked meat station, and BeaverTails, a must-try Canadian pastry.
